Penang’s Clove Hall is on Conde Nast’s 2010 Hot List of New Places to Stay in the World

Opened in September 2009, Clove Hall is a new boutique homestay hotel in Penang that offers a luxury urban cultural heritage experience.

The newly restored colonial bungalow is Malaysia’s First Boutique Homestay Hotel and was included in the “2010 Hot List of New Places to Stay in the World” by Conde Nast.

Clove Hall is the only hotel in Malaysia that won this prestigious award this year.

Award Winning Hotelier

Clove Hall is owned by award winning hotelier Christopher Ong, who also owns the Galle Fort Hotel in Sri Lanka which was awarded the Unesco conservation award.

Restoration of the 6 bedroom colonial bungalow into a high-end hotel took 18 months and cost RM4 million.

Ong is reported to be investing in two new heritage and cultural tourism projects costing over RM10 million.
